Sophie’s Barn offers creative groups a haven in the Oxfordshire countryside. This is a bijou rehearsal space for performance-makers of all kinds, whether musical or dramatic. There is floor space for performance work, a grand piano, and a balcony provides a unique view of the whole experience.
We welcome visits from groups looking for a warm, welcoming rehearsal space! We can also offer you the opportunity to perform in front of an informal and appreciative audience: polished pieces, works in progress or rehearsal techniques are all of interest.
Sophie’s Barn is equipped with a log-burner to keep the space toasty during winter rehearsals; there is a small garden courtyard for breaks in summer.
Just off the Junction 11 of the M40, Sophie’s Barn is situated in the quiet Oxfordshire village of Chacombe. There is parking at the venue for those travelling by car, and Banbury train station is 5 minutes drive.
Self-catering accommodation is available by arrangement. The self catering accomodation can stretch to nine, ten at a pinch in the house. There is good access by bus, which run every 20 minutes:
- to Banbury, (takes ten minutes) stopping at bus station, minutes away from railway station
- to the next village (in other direction, takes five minutes) with Take Away Chinese and Fish and Chips, small supermarket, chemist etc.
- and of course there is a very amenable pub The George and Dragon yards away!
- an audience can be arranged if there is any sort of performance – retiring collection to Fund.
